İçindekiler
The application discussed here is Yle Areena, the viewing and listening service published by Yleisradio Oy. “Yle” is the broadcaster’s name; “Ylene” is not the app name used in the official listing. Areena brings together programmes, podcasts and live Yle channels, subject to the availability conditions of each programme.
Android identity and compatibility
- Official app name: Yle Areena.
- Publisher: Yleisradio Oy.
- Android package identifier: com.yle.webtv.
- The inspected Google Play description specifies Android 7 or newer for phones and tablets.
- Reference checked: 23 October 2026; the inspected listing showed an update date of 14 October 2026.
The old Android 5 compatibility statement should not be used for the current app. An Android TV edition is also described by the publisher, but television support should be checked for the actual device. No particular APK version number or download-file integrity was verified in this review, and a store update date does not prove the version of a file supplied elsewhere.
Yle ID and the first sign-in
Yle’s Android instructions state that the mobile application requires signing in with a Yle ID. Identify the official Yle Areena listing before installation, then follow the service’s own sign-in directions. If you create an account, use Yle’s own account flow and confirm the email address as requested; do not submit credentials to a page that merely uses the Yle name or logo.
Yle’s help distinguishes the mobile application from the browser service, where some viewing and listening can remain available without signing in. Do not assume that an option observed in a web browser has identical account requirements in the Android app.
Programme availability outside Finland
Yle Areena should not be described as unlimited television available everywhere. The rights for individual programmes can limit where and for how long they are offered. A listing in the app does not by itself mean that the programme can be played from your current country.
Yle’s account guidance describes broader access while travelling within the EU for eligible users whose permanent residence in Finland has been verified through Yle ID. That condition is different from anyone creating an account abroad. Check the programme’s current availability and Yle’s applicable residence and travel conditions; this guide does not offer a way to bypass geographical restrictions.
Finding programmes and checking playback
Use the service’s programme information to distinguish a live broadcast from an on-demand episode. Check the available dates, language and subtitle options for the title you want. Do not infer that every programme has English subtitles, the same catch-up period or an offline-saving option.
Before a long viewing session, confirm that the selected account and device are the ones you intend to use. If playback fails, note the programme title, device model, Android and app versions, your country and the error message. Check account eligibility and programme availability before treating the problem as an installation fault.
What this page does not certify
No stream, country-to-country access or device performance was independently tested for this article. The existing logo does not establish viewing rights or the identity of an APK file. Use the broadcaster’s own app and service information for the current catalogue, supported device and account conditions rather than relying on an unrestricted-access promise.
